Who we are

Maclean Biocarbon is a company dedicated to the production of biochar from almond shells, committed to sustainability and innovation in the bioenergy sector.

We are part of the Maclean business group and are located in Hellín, Albacete, alongside our almond processing plant, which enables us to optimise resources and promote an efficient circular economy.

At Maclean Biocarbon, we focus on innovation and efficiency to develop sustainable solutions, contributing to the reduction of environmental impact while offering a versatile and environmentally friendly product.

Our activity is centred on transforming an agro-industrial by-product into a high-value resource through an advanced pyrolysis process. With two pyrolysis furnaces and a production capacity of 6.4 tonnes per day, we ensure a constant supply of high-quality biochar for industrial and agricultural applications.

Our Biochar

Our biochar is a natural, sustainable, and premium product made from almond shells, an agro-industrial by-product with remarkable energy properties. Through a controlled pyrolysis process, we transform this biomass into a carbon-rich material distinguished by its high porosity, chemical stability, and low impurity content.

During the pyrolysis process, almond shells are exposed to very high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. This preserves the carbon structure optimally and enhances its properties. The result is a superior-grade biochar, characterised by a high fixed carbon content and low ash levels, attributes that make it a product of exceptional purity and added value. Moreover, this practice supports the circular economy by reusing agricultural waste and minimising environmental impact.
